Glorious, proud and dignified this Ram has horns that seem to be carved out of roughhewn stone. His fur is dense and expertly detailed, I used fine brush strokes to create the layers of the animal’s fur and the fine lined grass in the foreground. The light striking his head, chest and forelegs are in contrast to the dark background, this combined with the tall light-colored grass in the foreground gives this painting a three dimensional and photographic appearance. I am a self taught artist. Born and raised on a farm in central New York. Nature and wildlife has always been my passion in life. When I started painting in my mid 20's, I was living in the city and missed the country and wanted to capture the nature, wildlife and country scenes that I missed so much. I found that I could escape the city by creating on canvas the scenes of the country side, nature and wildlife by imagining myself being in that particular place as the brush flows across the canvas.
